September 5 "Testing" Ezekiel 21-22

“‘Testing will surely come. And what if even the scepter, which the sword despises, does not continue? declares the Sovereign Lord.’ Ezekiel 21:13

DEAR GOD, PLASE CHANGE ME IN MY 10,000 MOMENTS OF TESTING. May I embrace my story. May I know deeply that God is in this.

  1. Again, I see some very similar things going on today as was in Ezekiel's time.
"Jerusalem is spiritually filthy—like an unwashed land in drought. Her leaders are murderous as they intimidate and steal. The priests have failed to teach God’s law or observe God’s holiness. The officials are corrupt. The prophets are shallow and dishonest. The common people are bullies and thieves. There is not a single righteous person with whom God can start again.(Knowles, A. (2001). The Bible Guide (1st Augsburg books ed., p. 329).

God can't find even one to stand in gap. Not one. (Ezek 22:30) “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one."

Oh, for mercy. We need a fresh start. Judgment is near. Let us repent now. For the Time is at hand.

  2. I found this word of encouragement from our friend, Beth.

When life seems unpredictable and uncertain…

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
    Hebrews 13:8

We take our first breath of terrestrial air in total shock. Christ alone is unchanged and will remain unchanged for all of eternity.

We, on the other hand, are in constant hair-raising, stomach-turning flux. As the old saying goes, nothing stays the same but change.

The truth is God uses change to change us. He doesn’t use it to destroy us or distract us, but to coax us to the next level of character, experience, compassion, and destiny.

  3. Bullies and thieves. Not a person to start again with God. Oh, may we be found this day in humble surrender and repentance and worship. Thank you, Annette for adding this.

  4. And thank you for the beautiful thoughts about this unpredictable life of ours. My God is the Same today as he was last month when I didn't know.

  5. I felt so much emotion hearing your heart yet found myself offering platitudes. Nothing is rehearsed or smooth in this life. When we can't find our way, there's no formula that makes the bumpy road any more tolerable. May the fresh Wind of the Holy Spirit fall on each of us again in a new way this day to help dust us off and do it again. I believe it's worth it to persevere.
