August 1 Isaiah 18-22

Isaiah 22:22-24 I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I will drive him like a peg into a firm place; he will become a seat[h] of honor for the house of his father. All the glory of his family will hang on him...

Those who are called to power should rule with dignity and delight. Gill's Commentary says they should be like fathers and mothers to those under their rule. How beautiful is that? If we use people for our ministry advantage, we may look good on paper but our hearts have missed on our purpose on this earth.

"The glory of this world gives a man no real worth or excellence; it is but hung upon him, and it will soon drop from him." We may be important and die a noble death like The Parade of a President. Or we may die a pauper, unknown to many. Yet we are all the same. All answer not for earths' achievements. Our faith must be hung on Christ  and not on any man.
